Multi-Leaf Dance
This animation was an attempt at an idea I'd had for a few years and finally had the opportunity to work on it. The idea was simple, leaves dancing as through the air as they fell across the screen looping back on themselves to create an unending delight to lose myself in. Each leaf is a shaped piece of paper painted just enough to create some varriety between them all. This was a really fun project to work on and I fully intend on making an even more complicated one in the future, eventually.

The Leaf Dance
One of the first things I was taught to animate was a leaf dance way back in my junior year of high school. Just one leaf and how it fell due to the wind that affected it. I found I could get around needing to make multiple versions of the leaf if I used some of the skills I had learned in my many years of interest in origami; with a few folds I could make adjustments to how I believed the leaf would react in real time, not having to worry about keeping track of multiple assets. After initially completing the project I wanted to add a bit of surprise and added a pair of legs that fell past the leaf; I had recently seen American Beauty and had the idea of making something similar to the trash bag flowing in the wind.
